We've been mattress shopping the past few weeks.
At first, I was totally on board. Shopping that I get to do while lying down? I was dedicated: I wore comfortable sweatpants. I spent at least 7 minutes on each bed, testing my back, my side, etc. I asked the store to dim the lights and put on the easy listening station. The one that overplays
But after a while, they all felt the same. I started to get anxious, trying to figure out what I was supposed to get out of the seven minutes. I had phantom back aches and ankle aches and stomach aches. The bed was too soft. too hard. too mushy. too firm.
So, I did what I do any time I need a little assistance in forming my own opinion. I went online. Only problem was that mattress reviews are all. over. the. place. Apparently, even consumer reports won't touch the things because people's opinions vary so much.
How can I form an opinion based on other opinions if no one can agree?
Thankfully, we managed to figure it out. And so far, so very comfortable. (yes, I am in it right now. and yes, I do have a hard time getting out of it in the morning.)
What's lovely is that it's giving me a whole new appreciation for our entire bedroom. I want to stay in this cozy room for hours, sleeping and napping and resting my eyes...you get the picture.
It took us a long time to put together our bedroom - for a year we slept in a room with about fifteen different purple paint swatches on the wall. But then we remembered we hate purple. And it started to finally get really cozy.
And I love the cozy.
